Position for Hematologist Oncologist at John D Dingell VAMC (Detroit VA)
John D Dingell VA Medical Center is recruiting for board-certified/eligible Staff Attending with duties for Hematology and Oncology.
Responsibilities:
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 0800am-4:30pm.
JDD VAMC has inpatient consulting services include pulmonary/critical care, cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, endocrinology, general surgery, vascular surgery, orthopedic surgery, interventional radiology and palliative care.
JDD VAMC is a primary training site for the Wayne State University for residents and fellows.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide day-to-day care of veteran patients, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings
- Assess, consult, and treat hematology and oncology patients
- Serve as an expert in chemotherapy and other hematology and oncology procedures, to include bone marrow aspiration and biopsy
- Work closely with other providers, nurses, pharmacist and other disciplines for caring our veterans
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards meeting at the VA
- Able to become a staff faculty in Hematology and Oncology at Wayne State University actively participate in training residents, fellows and other medical students that rotate at the VA
- Sign chemo regimens, obtain patient consents, triage consults and follow VA policies and procedures for conduct, time and attendance and scheduling rules.
