State Affiliate Council Represented at First ASCO 'Advocacy Summit' on Capitol Hill

Take Part in the Virtual Hill Day on Thursday, September 22

The ASCO Advocacy Summit is taking place at the U.S. Capitol this week and includes more than 100 meetings with Congressional offices, remarks by Members of Congress and government officials, a “Congressional Leadership Award” presentation to a champion for cancer-related policies, and a major advertising campaign in Hill publications designed to draw broader attention to how the “nation’s cancer doctors are leading the way to deliver high-quality care to every patient.”

During the Summit, ASCO volunteer advocates, including members of the State Affiliate Council, will educate policymakers about critical issues affecting patients with cancer and their providers, and ask lawmakers to take action during the current Congressional session to fund and accelerate research, and support a reimbursement system that ensures all patients have access to the full range of services needed in effective cancer care. Specifically, advocates will focus on four major policy issues: the Part B Demo, interoperability, NIH funding and oral parity.

To amplify our efforts on Capitol Hill, ASCO members are encouraged to take part in the Virtual Hill Day on Thursday, September 22 by writing to their Congressional representatives in Washington urging action on cancer-related policy priorities. Click here to participate in Virtual Hill Day.
