Andrew Muskovitz, M.D.

Muskovitz 2Andrew Muskovitz, M.D. was born and raised in Southeast Michigan. Dr. Muskovitz practices general oncology/ hematology at Troy Beaumont with a special interest in Geriatric Oncology and is one of less than 100 physicians who have duel board certifications in both geriatrics and oncology in the United States.

Dr. Muskovitz began his undergraduate training at the University of New Hampshire, before completing a Bachelor with Great Distinction in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, followed by his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he finished his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Returning to Detroit, Dr. Muskovitz completed his fellowship at the Karmanos Cancer Institute at Wayne State University, then returned to Chicago to complete his fellowship in Geriatric Medicine.

Dr. Muskovitz was a Teaching Assistant of Neuroanatomy and Neuroscience at McGill University; a member of the Student Hearing Committee at Wayne State University; had the honor of completing a Foreign Exchange Externship in Medical Oncology at Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey; and won both the ASCO Oncology Trainee Travel Award as and the Women’s Health Initiative Travel Award. In addition to being a member of MSHO, he is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, International Society of Geriatric Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research and Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Caner.

Dr. Muskovitz was one of the first to fill the “Young Professional” spot on the MSHO Board and currently serves on the Young Physician committee. He is involved in helping MSHO continue to develop programs to help ensure Michigan hematology/oncology fellows are prepared for not only the clinical portion of their careers once they  graduate, but the business aspect as well.

When Dr. Muskovitz has time off, he enjoys spending it with his high school sweetheart, now wife, and their two young daughters. He grows tomatoes as big as your head, along with several other vegetables in his back yard, and enjoys playing squash, skiing and being outdoors.
