NAM: Fracturing Rules Add Unnecessary Regulatory Burden

NAM logoThe National Association of Manufacturers filed comments on Monday, September 10, on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) proposed rule to allow federal regulation of the hydraulic fracturing process on federal and Indian lands. Hydraulic fracturing is a process that uses pressurized fluids to extract natural gas from shale formations, making it a more feasible and cost-effective way to acquire this energy source.

The NAM strongly recommended that the BLM allow the states to be the primary regulators of hydraulic fracturing without federal intervention. Duplicating existing state regulations creates unneeded costs and causes delays in drilling activities. Click here to view the comments.
