‘Bigger’ Data, and Better Ways to Use It

New NAHAD Benchmarking/BI Program Planned in 2014

Over the past two years, NAHAD has served on an industry task group seeking to build a far more powerful, timely and robust Business Intelligence / Benchmarking program, to replace the long-standing annual NAHAD Distributor Profit Report. The new program would allow easy, online data submission, more timely data updating, complete dashboard-style access to all data and the ability to analyze a wide range of outputs, reports and comparisons.

The task force’s efforts will culminate this week in the formation of an LLC, comprised of five industrial distribution associations, including NAHAD, which will move the process forward. The LLC will then select the vendor to build out the new program, for delivery in early 2014. “We are very hopeful that this new program will offer our participating distributors ‘best-in-class’ tools and functionality that will truly allow them to make intelligent decisions to strengthen their businesses,” states NAHAD’s Executive Vice President Joseph Thompson.

NAHAD leaders, along with representatives of the four other associations, have been working hard on this effort. NAHAD’s Education & Services Committee chair, Chris Geib of Geib Industries will be joined by NAHAD president, Terry Weiner, of Abbott Rubber Company, as well as Joseph Thompson and Molly Thompson, NAHAD Conference Manager at the one-day meeting in Chicago this week. Karen Brandvold, of Omni Services, also serves on the task group.

With a launch expected in 2014, NAHAD members will learn more about the project in upcoming NAHAD Newsletters and in other announcements.
