Dear ink industry members, I want to take the time to tell you how incredibly humbled and honored I am to write to you as NAPIM’s next President. My sincere thanks to Gregg Dahleen for his leadership over the years. Gregg has led our organization with fervent care, displaying a tenacity like no other. As an association, we’ve gone through a few transitions. Thank you, Gregg, for leading us confidently and without interruption through some of these major milestones. You have my promise that I will do my absolute best to carry the torch as gracefully and steadfast as you did. |

Registration Open for the
2023 Summer Course
July 17–21, 2023 • Clemson University • Clemson, SC
NAPIM’s 2023 Summer Course, taking place July 17–21, is a joint effort between ink companies and NAPIM’s Technical Associate Members (TAMs) providing a unique learning experience for new and seasoned ink technicians to gain in-depth instruction on the various industry-related subject matter. The Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics at Clemson University will provide a “state of the art” venue featuring excellent instructional resources in flexographic, lithographic, and gravure printing. The move to the Sonoco Institute has allowed NAPIM to expand its course coverage to include sessions on digital printing and electronic ink development.
New for 2023! For 2023 significant improvements are under development, including expansion of the digital ink coverage, hands-on session demonstrating the formulation and construction of an ink system, and other changes.
Members and non-members of NAPIM are welcome to register and attend.

PHMSA Requests Feedback on Recycled Plastics Policy
On April 14, 2023, the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) published a request for feedback on its recycled plastics policy. 88 Fed. Reg. 23140. PHMSA states that it published the notice to solicit information pertaining to how the potential use of recycled plastic resins in the manufacturing of specification packaging.

2023 Spring Convention Wrap-Up
The Silverado Resort & Spa, in Napa, California, was the site of NAPIM’s 2023 Annual Spring Convention. Over 120 members and non-members gathered to enjoy a sunny, picturesque resort while learning about important topics concerning ink sustainability, environmental standards, regulatory and economic issues, and artificial intelligence. Attendees also participated in golf outings, various excursions, and other activities throughout the weekend.
This year’s keynote speaker was leadership expert - Mike Staver. Mike kicked off the opening session with an engaging and inspirational address focusing on developing effective leadership in the corporate environment.
