Description

North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is hiring a managing editor to join its news leadership team. The Managing Editor will manage and lead the production team for WUNC’s daily interview program The State of Things. S/he will oversee the daily editorial direction and production of the show. The Managing Editor will also book and produce interviews, and may substitute for the host. The State of Things is host-driven and includes interviews, news, and analysis about events, issues, and the arts in North Carolina. The Managing Editor will report to the News Director. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a public radio news room. A Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of broadcast journalism experience is required. Two years of management and supervisory experience is preferred. Experience hosting a live radio program is preferred. WUNC is headquartered in the Triangle area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) of North Carolina. It’s often rated among the top areas to live in the country. The ocean and mountains are just a few hours away.

North Carolina Public Radio serves more than 300,000 listeners weekly and was ranked Number 1 in the Raleigh Metro Market in January 2014. Salary and benefits are competitive.
