WNCN, the CBS station in Raleigh, is looking for an experienced Investigative Reporter to join our team.  We are looking for someone who loves to uncover stories, ask the tough questions and hold the powerful accountable.  Candidate must have a Journalism degree and at least three years’ experience as an investigative reporter with a proven track record of success.  Candidates must excel at Breaking News, both from the studio and live from the field.  All of our reporters are expected to work beats and generate exclusive, enterprise reports.  Must be aggressive on digital and social media.    Please apply online at the Nexstar Career site at www.nexstar.tv

Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree Journalism required + (3) three years’ experience as an investigative journalist.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Produce investigative stories that impact viewers
• Develop sources and contacts in the community
• Work with management to enterprise and develop stories and promotable Special Reports
• Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand-ups, creative graphics, and use of digital and social media platforms.
• Organize material, determine angle or emphasis, and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Ability to uncover, expose, and find solutions for stories that will prompt change in the community
• Contribute research and analysis on major breaking news events on air and online.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of how to dig up, look through, and process information.
• Ability to request and interpret FOIA documents
• Ability to produce data-based Journalism.
• Detail oriented.
• Demonstrate editorial judgment using knowledge of journalism ethics and libel laws.
• Strong on-air reporting, writing, and technical skills.
• Be an excellent team player.
