How do I request that a career related event get posted on the NCDA website?
Please submit the following to email@example.com anytime:
- Name of event (including subtitles; eg. “Minnesota CDA Fall Event: Generational Differences”)
- Dates / Times
- Link for more info
- Optional: description – a short, text-only paragraph is fine, especially if there is something specific to highlight (e.g. if your keynote speaker is the NCDA President); do not attach a pdf or other document; most often the event name is self-explanatory and the link will provide the best info so this description is not necessary.
If the event is offered by a chartered state CDA, NCDA will include the event on the Home Page calendar. Click on View All Events (directly below the Home page calendar), to see a list of Related Career Conferences (in addition to state and NCDA events). Events are posted at the discretion of NCDA.
How does the "Need Career Help" (aka search for a practitioner) home page feature work?
From the home page, website visitors may enter a city, state, zip code, or country to search for a member who has paid for a listing in this directory. (Members can add their name when they renew and pay the fee, using the Membership Form or calling headquarters.) We urge consumers to review the guidelines for Choosing a Counselor and FAQs on the Search Results page to make the most informed decisions. We also encourage users to search far and wide, as many practitioners are able to work regardless of geographic location. Keep in mind that Search Results may not be 100% accurate, due to the Google search function. We apologize for errors and/or inconvenience.
How do I get published with NCDA?
If you would like to write for NCDA, start by looking at our website! As you can see from the Publications section of the NCDA website, we offer many opportunities for writers. Please see the Submission Guidelines for the three main publications: Career Convergence, Career Development Quarterly, and Career Developments magazine. NCDA also publishes high quality books and monographs that are for sale in the Career Resource Store. We do not re-sell author's books at this time. We have a Publications Development Council that oversees the "Procedures for Submitting a Product Development Proposal".
Here is a two-page overview of the Practical Resources For Career Development Practitioners. If you attended the conference presentation on this topic, you are encouraged to discuss the following with another person:
- Using the two-page overview, share with others the resources that you have already used
- Share with others a new resource that you learned about through the presentation or by searching the NCDA website
- Discuss who else might benefit from this information and how to share it with them.
Questions about this overview, presentation or any NCDA resource may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org
