The National Career Development Association is pleased to announce that as of February 1, 2011, we have contracted with Advocacy Associates (http://www.advocacyassociates.com/) to serve as our government relations consultants and "eyes and ears" on the Hill! The firm will work closely with NCDA Leadership and the Government Relations Committee to advocate for issues important to NCDA's Legislative Agenda and to ensure that NCDA is seen by those in Washington, DC as the “go to” organization for all things career-related.
Advocacy Associates may be familiar to many of you as NCDA has worked with the firm's "Advocacy Guru", Stephanie Vance, on a number of occasions. Stephanie's firm presented the strongest proposal that clearly showcased the firm's understanding of and commitment to issues important to NCDA. Please join the Government Relations Committee in officially welcoming Stephanie and her team to NCDA!
Over the next several weeks we will be working together to define our "plan of work". This will likely include an assessment of our current policies, platforms, and resources. As we move into this next phase of our government relations work, we will need the help of all members. If you are interested in contributing to NCDA’s legislative and advocacy efforts, please consider joining the Government Relations Committee. Members of the Committee will play an active role in a number of legislative areas that we will need to act upon in the coming months, so a strong grassroots base is important to any future successes.
This is a very exciting time for our organization as we are, for the first time in our history, connected to resources that have the potential to dramatically improve our standing in Washington and beyond. Continue to check www.ncda.org, Career Convergence and future electronic announcements for information about our progress and ways that you can contribute to our collective efforts.
