Qualifications: Bachelors degree (political science, history, or related discipline preferred but not required); 3 — 5 years experience working with legislative branch of government, working in government relations, public affairs, or other related field; strong preference for North Carolina-specific experience, as well knowledge or familiarity with property and casualty insurance.
Job Description: This is the # 2 position in a two-person trade association that represents property and casualty insurance companies doing business in North Carolina (www.insurancefederationnc.com); primary duties of this position are to provide support and assistance as directed by the Executive Director, including all administrative, operational, public affairs, and governmental relations functions of IFNC. Incumbent will need to be self-directed and able to operate with minimal direct supervision; sound analytical skills and good writing ability a must.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
i. Assisting with operations of day-to-day operations of the trade association, including writing, editing, and distributing communications to Member companies and the public.
ii. The tracking and analyzing legislation and legislative action, and reporting on the same.
iii. Research and analysis project work associated with specific legislative or public communications projects, as assigned by the executive director.
iv. Providing assistance with management of all aspects of Board, Committee, and Membership meetings and related activities of IFNC.
