A Message From Your President...
Hi Everyone.
I hope everyone remains safe and healthy. We are getting closer! Many areas of the state are beginning to meet the requirements set by the government to start reopening. Some regions are allowing elective surgery to resume. Phase 1 reopening is beginning in some regions. I am confident as we continue to see decreasing new cases and fewer deaths most regions will begin phase 1 opening and believe this will occur in the next 10-14 days.
We are all beyond frustrated. As I have stated in the past, PLEASE follow CDC guidelines of social distancing (fewer chairs in waiting areas, 6 feet apart) and mask requirements in our offices. If patients present to the office without a mask either reappoint them or, if you have enough PPE, you may give them a mask. Personal, staff and patient protection is our best and only option. The new "NORMAL" is unknown. Our goal should be to continue to develop solutions that will allow us to provide optimal care to our patients.
MEMBERSHIP DUES INFORMATION:
NYSPMA DUES are DISCOUNTED by 25% this year. NYSPMA has DELAYED SENDING DUES INVOICES for the FIRST QUARTER, INVOICES WILL BE SENT OUT AT THE END OF JUNE.
I would like to personally thank one of our NYSPMA staff members, SONIA LUNN for her efforts during this Pandemic. Sonia initiated a program to collect PPE to be offered to NYSPMA members in need. Sonia was able to help members receive PPE when it was very difficult to obtain. THANK YOU SONIA for your dedication and service.
I hope to have more good news to share in the coming weeks.

One of our members, Dr. Robert Fridman, has developed a survey on DPM use of telemedicine services and I invite you to participate in this short survey. He is working with public health grad students at GW University, Columbia University, and one of William Spielfogel’s residents at Northwell Health. Surveys like this can be useful in advancing our scope and practice in the future.

Showcase your Media Activity on NYFOOTHEALTH!
Two years ago, NYSPMA created a wonderful consumer website, NYFOOTHEALTH and would like to enhance it by adding any press activity (i.e.media interviews, podcasts, etc) with which our members have been involved. The Public Education and Information Committee, chaired by Dr. Stephanie Hook, will review all material prior to us posting it. We will also push out on NYFOOTHEALTH's other social media feeds. We know several members have been tapped by various media outlets for podiatric related conditions for the general public. We would love to have the opportunity to collectively showcase and advance the profession while educating the public about podiatry and foot health.

UHC is waiving cost share (copays, coinsurance, and deductibles) for UHC Medicare Advantage plan members for all covered office-based professional services performed by both primary care physicians and specialists with DOS starting May 11, 2020, until at least Sept. 30.

[New Benefit!] Student Loan Consolidation for NYSPMA/PICA Members in Partnership with MassMutual and Commonbond.
