Podiatrists Rank High In Best Jobs Poll

The US News and World Report has released its 2016 Top 100 Best Jobs rankings and podiatry is among the top 20 in best overall job, best healthcare job and best paying job.

In best overall jobs, Podiatrists ranked #15, ahead of surgeons (#16) and physicians (#19). In best healthcare job category, Podiatrists were listed at #13, again outpacing surgeons (#14) and physicians (#15). In best paying jobs, Podiatrists ranked #12, ahead of lawyers (#16), optometrists (#20), prosthodontists (#21) and physician assistants (#25)

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that podiatry is poised to grow by 14 percent from 2014 to 2024, resulting in 1,400 new jobs. Since the U.S. population is both increasing and aging, the BLS predicts that more people will have foot and ankle-related ailments. The diabetes epidemic is also driving the job growth, since diabetics often suffer from foot problems.
