Correct Coding for Plantar Fascia Needling/Micro Plantar Fascioectomy

Is there a plantar fascia needling billing code or a Micro plantar fascioectomy? Should this be done in office or surgical center?

If billing for a plantar fascioectomy, the CPT code that should be billed for the encounter should be 28060 (Fasciectomy, plantar fascia; partial (separate procedure).

In many cases, it would be appropriate to bill for this surgical procedure in an office or a facility, such as an outpatient hospital or ambulatory surgical center. Medicare would pay for the service in either place of service. It would be recommended that a commercial or Managed Care plan be contacted to verify benefits to confirm if an authorization would be needed if a plantar fascioectomy is not performed in a facility setting.
