Jim Pullins, Territory Manager for Becker-Underwood and this year’s OABA Golf for Scholarships Committee Chair used the game of golf, one of his passions, to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Several sponsors financially supported Jim’s effort based on the number of consecutive holes he played. He played 100 holes of golf, walking them one hole at a time. In total, the 100 holes covered over 20 miles!
“It was hard and it was tiring. It became difficult to remain motivated to take another step or another swing. But, it was easier than enduring chemotherapy and some of the other treatments patients must go through in fighting this disease. I know that my day was better than the days my dad had over his last few weeks.”
“Fighting cancer as a victim or finding a cure is a long, tough, tiring endeavor. I hoped to reflect this experience by doing something that was exceptionally physically demanding,” said Pullins. “As with battling cancer, this effort was completed with the invaluable help of others watching out for me and going ahead of me. Cancer survivors can relate to this.”
Way to go, Jim and thank you!
