CEU Opportunity: Integrated Pest Management Plan Writing Workshop

Deadline to Register Is March 5; Space is Limited

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and The Ohio State University’s Integrated Pest Management Program are teaming up to offer a workshop on integrated pest management (IPM) conservation plan writing for specialty crop growers. The workshop will provide 5.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to certified crop advisors, independent crop consultants, and technical service providers who have an interest in (and preferably experience with) working with vegetable, tree fruit or small fruit production.

NRCS offers payments to producers for implementing Integrated Pest Management activities through the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP). Producers need an IPM plan developed for their operation prior to receiving these payments. Individuals who go through this training will work directly with the producer to develop a site- and crop-specific IPM plan for that operation.

The workshop will be held on March 14 in London at the London Service Center, located at 831 U.S. Highway 42 NE; London, Ohio 43140. The cost for the workshop is $50, which includes lunch and a three-ring binder containing five current pest management and production publications that cover vegetable, tree fruit and small fruit crops. The workshop is limited to the first 25 registrants, and the deadline to register is March 5. NRCS employees interested in attending this training must request approval through their supervisor.
