Additional $1 Million in Funding for Grand Lake St. Marys Watershed

Funding Through The Environmental Quality Incentives Program to Address Water Quality Issues

To address water quality issues in the Grand Lake St. Marys watershed, an additional $1 million in funding has been approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The funding will be provided through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), and is in addition to the $7 million that EQIP has provided towards the Grand Lake St. Marys watershed since 2008.

And, the Grand Lake St. Marys watershed is not alone in receiving funding. In March, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, Michigan Senator and Chairwoman of the Senate Ag Committee Debbie Stabenow, and Representatives Nancy Kaptur of Ohio and John Dingell of Michigan announced that an additional $2 million is available through EQIP to address water quality issues in the Western Lake Erie Basin.
