Researches with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) are now using forensic crime tools to identify insects that are natural predators to crop pests.
The Preliminary Change Reaction tool identifies DNA in bodily fluids or saliva from perpetrators of crime, and its use has now expanded to study DNA barcoding of natural predators of pests in crop fields.
