Agronomist

CHS Member Cooperative in North Central Ohio

CHS is partnering with a successful member cooperative in North Central Ohio to find an experienced Agronomist to join the team at a successful branch. Located an hour northeast of Columbus, this position will provide competitive pay and benefits as well as an opportunity to be part of a successful branch.

Position Overview:

This position is for an experienced Agronomist who has strong skills in crop scouting, precision agriculture methods and crop protection products. Designed as an experienced role with mid-career level pay, a successful candidate will focus on customer service, building relationships and exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Scout fields, supporting the proper use of crop protection products, seed and precision agriculture to customers to grow market share.
  • Create and recommend specific agronomy programs based off of yield results, crop scouting and seed knowledge to customers.
  • Spend a majority of time in the country working with farmers to earn business.
  • Understand the business functions of employee team and assist the team in improving the efficiency and profitability of the location(s) assigned.
  • Coordinate with fertilizer applicators and tanks on the spreading, spraying and delivery of bulk fertilizer to assure the correct product, placement and application rate.
  • Assure that federal and state regulations pertaining to chemicals and fertilizers are observed and adhered to. 

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to build trust quickly
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in agronomy, seed, crop protection products and VRT
  • Demonstrate strong communication/persuasive/business skills
