Director of Internal Communications and Engagement

QUALIFICATIONS:

The American Seed Trade Association, ASTA, is looking for a new team member to focus on member engagement in the association’s activities. ASTA is a purely member driven organization that is looking to further enhance its services to the membership and engage our members at an even higher level.  ASTA is looking for a professional, member-focused member engagement manager who is solutions and detailed oriented and extremely organized to communicate the activities and opportunities that are a benefit of membership in the association. 

The Director of Internal Communications and Engagement must be a strong communicator, experienced networker, have excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate the Association’s mission and value statement with both existing members and potential members. The Director of Internal Communications and Engagement requires strong work in a collaborative manner with staff, and possess the ability to think creatively and strategically. This individual must be willing to travel.

The Director of Internal Communications and Engagement must be able to work independently and be able to anticipate membership needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and deepen relationships with member companies in order to match the company needs with Association opportunities.
  2. Maintain relationships with approximately 700 company members and regularly contact existing company individuals for volunteer engagement.
  3. Create member profiles for future member communications and outreach.
  4. Gain new knowledge of company needs.
  5. Maintain a working knowledge of all activities and offerings within all areas of the Association to communicate proactively with the membership.
  6. Provide logistical support as necessary and requested by other team members.
  7. Support the Association’s strategic goals to meet objectives and increase membership opportunities.
  8. Work in conjunction with all staff members on increasing opportunities and outreach.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Oral and written communication – Strong communications skills essential; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; Follows up; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings and committees; Strong writing skills are also essential; writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs.

Have the ability to motivate volunteers and interact successfully with volunteers inspiring them to serve or continue serving.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to effectively use of technology. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite required.

Experience in the Ag industry considered a plus.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a creative, results-oriented, relationship management professional with a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.
