Overview: FieldWatch® is a non-profit company that promotes communication, cooperation and collaboration between growers, beekeepers, and pesticide applicators in support of ongoing stewardship activities. The vision of FieldWatch is to be a nationally recognized agricultural collaborative with the preferred easy-to-use, accurate and secure crop, apiary and field worker registries. Job Purpose: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organization, its customers, membership and stakeholders in the development, implementation and operations and utilization of FieldWatch products and services. The chief executive implements policies approved by the board, manages the organization’s programs and operations and represents the organization with stakeholders.

CEO Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the organization and serve as its primary spokesperson. Is responsible for the day-to-day activities and the strategic vision of the organization
  • Use leadership, managerial and problem-solving skills to directly engage in all aspects of the development and implementation of the business plan with the organization
  • Oversee all functional roles and aspects of FieldWatch
  • Lead development and management of a professional and efficient organization
  • Assess customer problems and hurdles to develop new ideas, enhancements and solutions in overcoming barriers of adoption of FieldWatch products and services
  • Develop business plan and manage the financial status of the organization
  • Ensure that the flow of funds is allocated properly and enables FieldWatch to make continuous progress with efficient utilization of available resources and do so without deficit spending
  • Develop and establish processes and procedures for ensuring operational success of the organization, its products and services and for a positive user experience
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to refine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff and priorities are aligned with FieldWatch's vision, mission and plan
  • Regularly call on current members and top contributors in each stakeholder category represented on the board
  • Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the staff and the Board; ensure open communication on a regular basis regarding such items as customer development progress, financial status, program improvements or changes and growth performance of users and members
  • Seek and identify new opportunities to enhance the website offerings and related services; plan and oversee the IT development and implement with internal and external feedback
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive marketing, branding and developmental strategies that will ensure consistency across the markets and enhance support and revenue from the diverse agricultural stakeholders
  • Provide training, support and motivation for staff with emphasis on customer satisfaction and stakeholder engagement
  • Be the organization’s lead ambassador to key stakeholders – Board members, sponsors, key partners and trade associations

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated professional and management experience
  • Demonstrated marketing/business acumen
  • Ability to manage diverse stakeholder facilitation and leadership; be able to exercise situational leadership skills ranging from task management to strategic leadership
  • Possess effective presentation skills to serve as spokesperson
  • Be comfortable working with a Board of diverse individuals representing a diverse set of priorities and be able to effectively take direction from the Board
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills that are reflected in an ability to interact professionally with all levels of FieldWatch members as well as executives from professional organizations, governments and people in the industry (grower to CEO)
  • Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Possess significant knowledge of the field of production agriculture, IT (preferred) and the issues that currently affect FieldWatch
  • Attention to detail
  • Have strength in problem solving; be able to handle changes and challenges in a positive and graceful manner
  • Be an advocate of agriculture and its benefit to the world
  • Possess organizational skills that will permit managing work efficiently as well as working on several projects simultaneously, each at a different level of development

Schedule: Full-time. Please indicate your availability. 

Location: Virtual with Midwest availability

Travel: Travel required (moderate 30 to 40%); access to major airport preferred
