Director of Communication and Member Education

Position Summary: Responsible for providing comprehensive communication and member education services and support in accordance with the goals of the association by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Supervises all aspects of production of a weekly e-newsletter to include writing, editing and soliciting articles; distributing via association email list-serve, and monitoring member feedback.
2. Manage the association web site including, but not limited to, negotiating web sponsorships, adding and updating content, monitoring member feedback and overall upkeep of a professional, modern site.
3. Create and implement a comprehensive social media strategy for the association.
4. Develop and distribute timely and informative press releases based on OABA activities, events and policy positions. Serve as the main association contact for media.
5. Oversee creation, design and development of printed material including, but not limited to, the organization’s print newsletter, marketing materials, and information displays.
6. Ensure all communications adhere to association brand and style guidelines.
7. Provide leadership and direction to OABA educational programs, events and activities. Assist in the development and implementation of new programs, events and activities that meet members’ needs and aid in recruiting and retaining volunteer leaders.
8. Assist in developing and enhancing relationships with other organizations, governmental agencies, academics, community groups and the media.
9. Attend meetings to represent the organization as necessary.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Educational Experience Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in communications, education, business, public administration or related agriculture field from a four-year college or university.
Minimum Skill Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education/Experience Qualifications:
The above mentioned minimum educational experience qualifications with two to three years related work experience.
