ABIS/J.H. Ward Agency was started in 1995 by John H. Ward II as the sole owner/employee writing mainly in Ohio. Today, the company has 12 employees and offers property and casualty insurance, crop insurance and employee benefits including health and life insurance in more than 20 states.
In 2007, what was then known as the J.H. Ward Agency merged with ABIS of West Des Moines to create “ABIS/J.H. Ward Agency.” The company is now expanding east into Pennsylvania, New York and other North-East states.
ABIS/J.H. Ward Agency concentrates on agriculture from the small farm policy and crop insurance to large co-ops and commercial ag accounts, with more than 95% of the agency’s book of business comprised of agricultural related policies. ABIS/J.H. Ward agency believes focusing on one particular industry allows for better understanding of the issues the agriculture industry faces.
OABA allows ABIS/J.H. Ward Agency to network with fellow companies in the commercial agribusiness industry. The agency believes OABA does a lot to support the companies they insure along with the companies they do not insure and they therefore do whatever we can to help support OABA in return. ABIS/J.H. Ward Agency is especially proud to support the OABA Educational Trust Fund, which provides scholarships to agribusiness students and helps prepare the next generation of agriculture leaders to shape the industry.
