Agriculture Industry Leader Jay Vroom Joins FLM Harvest’s Board of Advisors

JayvroomFLM Harvest, a strategic consulting, marketing and communications agency, has announced that agriculture industry leader, mentor and veteran Jay Vroom will join FLM Harvest’s distinguished Board of Advisors.

Since 1989, Vroom has been president and chief executive officer of CropLife America (CLA), the trade association for companies that produce, sell and distribute virtually all the vital and necessary crop protection and biotechnology products used by farmers, ranchers and landowners.

The FLM Harvest Board of Advisors is a diverse group of industry leaders in the agriculture, food, lifestyle and pet markets. Unique among marketing communications agencies, the advisors are actively involved in client projects and agency and client leadership mentoring.

Vroom will serve in a limited capacity on FLM Harvest’s board until his retirement from CLA at the end of 2018.

In addition to his leadership at CLA and serving as a founding member of the CropLife Foundation, Vroom has devoted much of his career to mentoring and counseling others within the industry. His many roles include chairman of the FFA Foundation’s Individual Giving Council and a member of the board of trustees. In addition, he sits on the board of directors for the Agricultural Retailers Association, Asmark, National Wheat Foundation and the Soil Health Institute, and co-chairs the Coalition to Advance Precision Agriculture and the U.S. Production Ag CEO Council.

Prior to joining CLA, Vroom held various positions in executive capacities with the National Fertilizer Solutions Association – now the Ag Retailers Association – the Merchants Exchange of St. Louis and the Fertilizer Institute. He graduated with honors from the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Vroom was raised on a grain and livestock farm in north-central Illinois and continues to own the farming operation.

“For more than 25 years, Jay has been the face of the crop protection industry in our nation’s capital and throughout the world,” said Rob McClelland, FLM Harvest president and chief executive officer. “His relentless efforts promoting the values and innovation of American food and agriculture combined with his ethics, enthusiasm and leadership will be a valuable asset for FLM Harvest as we continue to grow and evolve. It is with great pride and excitement our team welcomes Jay.”

“Having worked closely over the years with both the FLM Harvest leadership team and many of its advisors, I have come to respect and admire their values and determination to do what is right for our industry,” Vroom said. “On behalf of CropLife Foundation, I recently partnered with the agency and others on the ‘No Taste for Waste’ initiative campaign to mitigate food waste. This earnest collaboration grew my interest in collaborating more with FLM Harvest on an advisory level. I look forward to working alongside the agency and its impressive list of clients to promote goodwill, understanding and appreciation on behalf of the entire food chain.”
