On Monday, November 27, Ohio ACEP brought its NIX Opiates program to Thomas Worthington High School to discuss the dangers of opioids, addiction, and overdose with students and parents. The talk was the fourth of Drug Safe Worthington’s eight-part monthly speaker series on challenges facing teens, such as drugs, mental health, and bullying. Ohio ACEP member, Dr. James Chan, was the keynote speaker and was featured in a 10TV Columbus Evening News story on NIX Opiates and the Drug Safe Worthington program:
The NIX Opiates program, spearheaded by our own Dr. Ryan Squier, brings emergency physicians into Ohio high schools to speak candidly with students and parents about addiction, drug abuse, and overdose. To date, the Ohio ACEP Opiate Awareness Team has visited 18 schools and organizations, reaching more than 7,500 students and parents.
