BROOKVILLE, OH

AUGUST 21- The Brookville Fire Department was greatly enhanced this week when Reichard Chevrolet, in partnership with the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (OADA), presented a CPR ShockLink training unit.

The Brookville Fire Department is a combination Fire/EMT Department that began its service in 1883, serving a community of just 800 people. Today the department is comprised of 50 personnel and provides Fire, Emergency Medical, and Technical Rescue Services to over 10,000 people spanning 36 miles in northwest Montgomery County.

The ShockLink System donated by Reichard Chevrolet is the first of its kind at the department, and Fire Chief Ron Fletcher is excited to put it to good use: “The ShockLink System will permit us to create simulated cardiac emergencies that are extremely realistic. The unit allows us to safely utilize our cardiac monitor defibrillators in a training atmosphere, without the potential of inadvertent damage to the equipment or accidental shock to the user.”

According to Chief Fletcher, pre-hospital care of cardiac emergencies is one of the most important services that the Brookeville Fire Department provides.

“In July we treated a man at a local business who suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Through aggressive pre-hospital care from our paramedics and excellent follow-up care from the hospital, the patient was resuscitated and should make a full recovery. That is our goal- to ultimately help people return to a good quality of life. Training tools like the ShockLink System help our personnel be some of the best at what they do. We greatly appreciate the Reichard Family’s contribution to that effort.”

The Reichard family has been in the automotive business since 1985, planting their roots in Dayton Ohio with Reichard Buick GMC. They became apart of the Brookville community three and a half years ago when Jeff Reichard acquired the Reichard Chevrolet dealership. On May 10th of this year Jeff’s daughter, Paige Reichard, officially took over as Owner/Dealer Principal at Reichard Chevrolet.

“I am glad to facilitate this donation with the assistance of the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association to help train our local fire fighters and EMT at the Brookville Fire Department, in turn to help save lives in the Brookville Community. We greatly appreciate our community’s support and are very excited to be able to support them back with the donation of this CPR ShockLink training unit.” said Miss Reichard.

Paige Reichard of Reichard Chevrolet, along with Chris Haas and Emily Steveley of the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association presented the training unit at the dealership on August 21st.
