Year: 2019
Original Air Date: December 10, 2019
Presented by OADA, with Fisher Phillips
Since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 suspended both personal dependency exemptions and altered numerous deductions, significant updates are necessary to the current W-4 so that it better aligns with current tax policy. The Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") has been working on redesigning the W-4 form to reduce the form's complexity and increase the transparency and accuracy of the withholding system. The IRS has released two draft forms and is preparing the final version for publication prior to the 2020 tax year.
Join OADA as we welcome Jeff Smith, a partner with Fisher Phillips, as we unravel the new form and its impact on dealerships' payroll processes. Throughout this 60-minute webinar, we will be discussing this new form and how to correctly complete and counsel employees on completing the new form. Additionally, we will also be answering crucial questions such as:
- Are all employees required to submit a new W-4 form?
- When do we have to start using the new W-4 form?
- Do existing employees have to use the new W-4 form?
- Are some of the questions optional?
- What is this second job section all about?
- How do I treat employees hired after 2019 who do not submit a W-4 form?
This webinar is best for payroll administrators, human resources managers, and managers and administrators who handle payroll and completing hiring paperwork.
