JobDescription.......... As of January 1, 2014, UPMC will pioneer the first Advanced Practice Provider Hospitalist Residency Program in the Northeast. This program is designed to give the candidate an in depth look at hospitalist medicine and inpatient care by expounding upon the Advanced Practice Provider’s clinical skillset through didactic and interactive learning.

UPMC Physician Services Division (PSD) is hiring for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider Hospitalist Residency Program to support the hospitalist program at UPMC Passavant. The residency will include lectures, shadowing and clinical experience in various practice models. The incumbents will travel to other sites to train and may work day or night shifts of varying duration, as needed. The Advanced Practice Provider Hospitalist Residency Program will conclude in 24 weeks, or longer in the event of health, academic necessity or program discretion.

Upon successful completion of the residency program, Advanced Practice Provider’s acquired skills will be utilized for a minimum duration of two years at UPMC Passavant in the hospitalist program associated with the University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Department of Critical Care Medicine.

Basic Qualifications
PA:
A graduate of an accredited physician assistant program which is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) is required.
- BS or MS Candidate is preferred
- Eligible for clinical privileges as a member of the Affiliate Staff by the Medical Staff Office
- Eligible for Pennsylvania prescriptive Authority and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration
- Must be recommended for appointment by the Program Director and satisfy academic programmatic requirements in order to maintain employment

NP:
A graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program is required.
- BSN, MSN Candidate is preferred
- Eligible for Pennsylvania Prescriptive Authority and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration
- Must be recommended for appointment by the Program Director and satisfy academic programmatic requirements in order to maintain employment

Annual Salary during training:
$71,136

APP will have the opportunity to participate in the UPMC Career Ladder at the conclusion of the residency training program. This includes a merit increase.
