Preceptor, Physician Assistant (Clinical Coordinator)

Cuyahoga Community College

 

Manages and coordinates the organization, administration, periodic review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the clinical phase of the Physician Assistant program.

Job Responsibilities

Manages and coordinates the clinical phase of the Physician Assist program

Creates and maintains clinical schedules for student learning

Conducts regular clinical site visits Investigates and resolves conflicts with students and /or clinical sites

Performs didactic instruction (including web-based instruction) of various Physician Assistant program courses

Assists with admissions process as needed

Assists with counselling and guidance to students

Participates in program course preparations and evaluations

Maintains office hours

Maintains effective communication with applicants, students, graduates, faculty, instructors, and outside stakeholders

Serves as liaison between College and community health care agencies, professional organizations and other network entities vital to the Physician Assistant program

Maintains required BCI and up to date immunizations

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Master's Degree in related field from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency

• Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program

Current and maintained National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Current Ohio License to practice as a Physician Assistant (or eligible)

Recent clinical experience as a Certified Physician Assistant

Minimum three years of demonstrated experience as a Certified Physician Assistant

Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team

Must successfully complete a Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) Background Check to include fingerprinting, social security number trace, county record search, state search, and a check of Federal Bureau of Investigation records

Possess working knowledge of clinical and/or didactic education concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations

Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity

Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality

Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions

Works accurately with great attention to detail

Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. Schedule may vary to include some evening and/or weekend hours.
