Post-Graduate PA Mental Health Residency in Adult Psychiatry

Chillicothe VA Medical Center is pleased to announce a new Post-Graduate PA Mental Health Residency in Adult psychiatry. The one-year program will include supervised clinical experiences on the acute psychiatric ward, urgent care, outpatient clinic, residential programs, consultation liaison, and community living centers. Didactics will include formal lectures with D.O. psychiatry residents, Grand Rounds, pharmacy journal club, assigned readings, self-learning, and a research project.  Once available, the residency will seek program accreditation.  

 

As a new program, the start date is flexible but no later than Jan 31, 2017.   Our new stipend rate is $77,000 paid by the Office of Academic Affairs. VA benefits include 13 days of paid annual leave and sick leave, 10 paid holidays, optional health and life insurance, preferential hiring within VA, education debt reduction program (if eligible), and personal liability covered under the Federal Tort law.  Although not mandated, it is expected that the resident obtain the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Psychiatry within one year of program completion and seek employment within the VA system.  

 

To be considered, you must be a graduate of an accredited PA program, submit a complete application packet, eligible for Ohio license and prescriptive authority, a US citizen, have no prior felony convictions, and registered with Selective Service if male.
