Legislative Call to Action!

Legislative Call to Action

The OAPA PA Modernization bill (which includes Schedule II language) was introduced recently in the Ohio House of Representatives.  HB284 is sponsored by Representatives Gonzales (R-Westerville) and Letson (D-Warren).  The bill has been referred to the House Health and Aging Committee and the Chair, Representative Wachtmann (R-Napoleon) is also an advocate for the bill.

These three legislators have assisted us in getting the bill introduced and will continue to support it through the legislative process.  It is now our turn to assist them.

Representatives Gonzales and Wachtmann are holding a joint fundraiser on July 21 at the Crow’s Nest in Marblehead, OH.  Fundraiser Flyer  OAPA has been asked to contribute $2500 to each of their campaigns and OAPA would like to make those contributions at the fundraiser on the 21st.

Representative Letson will hold a fundraiser later this year and, again, OAPA has been asked to contribute $2500.

Many of you generously contributed to the PAC in April and, recently, OAPA leadership and GAC committee members personally donated $2000 but that is still not enough.  We need all of you to donate right now.  AWSLinktoForm[6,5]

If you make a contribution of any amount and would like to attend the July 21st fundraiser, please let Josanne Pagel know (pagelj@ccf.org).  OAPA representatives and our lobbyist will be attending the event.

PAC contributions to campaign efforts of key legislators is part of the legislative process and the OAPA-PAC makes contributions to both parties.

Thank you and please donate!  AWSLinktoForm[6,5]

OAPA has also been active in seeking support from Senators.  Five meetings were held recently with key Senators and Senator Hite (R-Findlay) has expressed an interest in sponsoring a companion bill in the Senate.

Now that the Budget Bill has been signed by the Governor, Medicaid now recognizes PAs in hospital services.  ODJFS has one year to develop the rules and OAPA is monitoring the process and encouraging the agency to act quickly.
