WICT Names New Magness Leadership Fellows

The Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT) has selected 55 women as 2016-17 fellows of the Besty Magness Leadership Institute.

Comcast boasts the largest contingent of new class members at a dozen, appropriate since Magness was a cable pioneer, who, with her husband, Bob, helped build TCI, which became AT&T Broadband, which merged with Comcast.

The institute named after Magness is a leadership development program for senior-level women. Drawn from the cable and telecom programming, distribution and technology executive ranks, the 55 honorees will be split into two classes (Class 34 and Class 35) as they participate in the year-long program.

They will join more 800 women who have already graduated from the institute, which works to enable "fellows to make the transition from effective managers to enduring leaders," the WICT website notes.

Charter will be the chief sponsor of the classes.
