TWC Arena Will Now Be Called Spectrum Center

CHARLOTTE -- Big changes are coming to the home of the Hornets. Time Warner Cable Arena in Uptown Charlotte will now be called Spectrum Center.

The change follow's Charter's merger with Time Warner Cable that took effect earlier this year. Spectrum is the brand name of Charter's all-digital TV, internet and voice offerings.

Over the next few months leading up to the 2016-17 NBA season, Spectrum branding will replace Time Warner Cable's both inside and outside the arena. A new court and state of the art scoreboard will also be installed.

Additional information, including the venue’s new website and social media handles, will be announced at a later date.

"We are pleased to have Charter's Spectrum brand become part of our arena... as Charter prepares to make its entrance into the Charlotte area," said Hornets Sports and Entertainment President and COO Fred Whitfield.

The Hornets' season home opener is Saturday, Oct. 29 against the Boston Celtics.

Charter is the parent company of Time Warner Cable News.
