Internet providers say fiber is here

Executives from two internet providers visited with Jackson Township trustees on Tuesday to let them know that fiber optic lines have been installed around the township.

JACKSON TWP. Executives with two companies providing internet service wanted township trustees to know the community can access fiber optic systems in local neighborhoods.

Robert Gessner, president of Massillon-based MCTV, and Stephen M. Kristan, director of external affairs for AT&T Ohio, talked to Jackson trustees Tuesday evening following the board's regular meeting. Both executives pointed out that high-speed fiber optic internet service is available to residents and business owners in the township.

The visit came two weeks after the Stark County Area Broadband Task Team released a study indicating local elected officials should create a broadband authority to lead efforts to develop a more efficient high-speed internet system in Stark County.
