MASSILLON Four Washington High School Alumni have been named as the 2017 Distinguished Citizens.

R.R. Denny Clunk, Pamela Bordner Gable, Susan R. Gessner, and LeRoy H. Schumacher were singled out for the honor this year.

Clunk is one of three members of the class of 1947 to be bestowed the honor this year. He is joined by classmates Gessner and Schumacher.

Gessner, along with her husband, Richard, founded Massillon Cable. She serves as director of the family-run business.

Schumacher is CEO and founder of Schumacher Construction and Development Companies.

A member of the class of 1968, Gable has served as a translator, language analyst and cryptanalyst for the FBI. She is an ordained United Methodist elder.

The foursome will be honored during activities April 5, 6 and 7, including speaking to Washington High School students and at the annual Alumni Association banquet.

Awardees are chosen by a committee after nominations are received from the public. The honor recognizes graduates of the school who have achieved local, national or international success in their field.
