New cable channel focuses on local arts scene

Buckeye Broadband is putting the spotlight on local dance, theater, music, and studio arts at the student and professional level with the soft launch of its new channel Buckeye Community Arts Network.

The new channel will “go in-depth and tell the entire story of the arts community in our region,” said Marc Jaromin, general manager of Buckeye Community Sports Network and BCAN.

“It will support the professional arts, scholastic arts, and be a lightning rod for conversation,” he said. “Our goal is to enhance the quality of life through the arts in our community.”

BCAN, available exclusively to Buckeye Broadband subscribers on cable channels 109 and 609 in HD, debuts with a block of programming beginning at 7 p.m. with Arts Now!, a half-hour take on the local arts scene including area festivals and events. It will be followed from 8 to 10 p.m. Sundays by BCAN Presents, tape-delayed coverage of live events with limited commercials. It could include everything from a local spelling bee to high school band concerts.
