AEP Workshop for First Responders on Electrical Safety

As a member of the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association, you receive many different types of benefits with your membership, including free workshops!

The OFCA will be hosting a FREE workshop for members on Electrical Safety on Wednesday, June 20 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the OFCA Training Room. You will receive 2 credit hours in Electrical Safety. 

Gary Chaddock, American Electrical Power consultant in the area of "First Responder," will be hosting the workshop. Gary is currently retired from AEP, based in Canton, OH, where he worked for 40 years. In 1960, he began his career with AEP as a Groundman and then progressed to Line Superintendent prior to his retirement in 2000. During his career, Gary was instrumental in the development and training of the "First Responders" program.

This training will cover: 
-Structure fires 
-Substations
-Car/pole accidents, including: downed wires/removing an energized wire; reclosers/equipment; trapped victim; and step-potential-electric traveling through earth
-Storms, including: downed wires; reclosers/equipment; generators; and step-potential 
-Live 15,000 volt display
