Fire Chief

City of Fostoria

The City of Fostoria seeks a skilled and highly qualified individual to serve as the Fire Chief for the City of Fostoria Fire Division. Serving the 13,000 citizens of Fostoria, a unique community situated in three counties (Hancock, Seneca, Wood) in Northwest Ohio, it encompasses 7.85 square miles. The ideal candidate will oversee a department of 15 fulltime firefighters, with an annual budget of more than $1.7 million. The new chief will be responsible for the administration of all regulations and policies, setting the manpower schedule, and other activities. The Chief will serve under the direction of the Safety Service Director, and will have responsibility for the organizational, operational, financial, and administrative functions of the Fire Department.

Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of firefighting service at the Lieutenant rank or above; or an equivalent combination of education, training and life experience. Must possess Ohio Fire Safety Inspection Certificate; Ohio Firefighter’s Certificate as per Ohio Revised Code; and a valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Excellent management and leadership skills to be able to work collaboratively with staff, elected officials, and the community.
