The Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District provides fire and EMS service to the City of Deer Park and the Village of Silverton. Both are inner ring suburbs of Cincinnati in Southwest Ohio. The communities are primarily residential, with limited commercial and light industrial areas located within their borders. The communities encompass 1.98 square miles, and at the 2010 Census the population was 10,524. The primary funding for the fire district comes from a property tax levy which is currently at 7.9 mils. The levy revenues are supplemented by EMS transportation billing. The fire district also provides contractual fire and EMS service to portions of Columbia Township as well as providing contractual EMS service to a portion of Amberley Village which brings in additional operating revenue. The fire district operates one fire station, located at 7050 Blue Ash Road in Silverton. This location is the approximate geographic center of the fire district.

The station is staffed daily by a minimum of four personnel, with maximum staffing of five personnel. The fire district provides EMS, fire, and rescue response with two medic transport units, two engines, and multiple support vehicles. The fire district does not operate its own 911 call center or emergency communications center. Incoming emergency calls are received by the Hamilton County Communications Center, and units are dispatched accordingly using computer-aided dispatch (CAD). The Communications Center receives its funding from the general funds of Hamilton County as well as user fees paid by the jurisdictions that utilize the system. To assess the structural fire suppression capabilities of the fire district, a full review is conducted by Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) every ten years. A follow up review is conducted every five years to determine if any major changes have occurred in a department between the full assessments. This review consists of evaluating needed water flows for fire extinguishment; receiving and handling fire alarms; ensuring water supplies meet required standards; and fire department staffing, training, and inspection activities. An analysis of the data by ISO generates a Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating for the department. This rating ranges from Class 1, the best rating a department can earn, to Class 10, which is the lowest. In the most recent PPC report prepared by ISO in 2012, the fire district earned a fire protection rating of Class 3 which places us in the top 4% of rated departments in Ohio. At the time of publication, there were 112 departments in Ohio with a classification of Class 3 out of a total of 2,787 rated by ISO. There were 31 rated at Class 2 and none were rated at Class 1. The remaining fire departments were rated between Class 4 and Class 10. The next scheduled evaluation by ISO is the spring of 2022.
