City of Brooklyn
The City of Brooklyn invites qualified applicants to apply for the full-time position of Fire Chief. The position is in the unclassified service of the City and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under administrative direction, administers and directs the operations of the City fire department; directs personnel functions; sets departmental policy for fire prevention and fire suppression; responds to fire alarms and may assume command; oversees facility, equipment, and supplies; oversees training and instructional activities; performs public relations activities and other administrative duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited four (4) year college/university in Fire Science, Public Administration, Management or related field preferred, and at least four (4) years of experience as a Firefighter, one (1) year as Fire Lieutenant or equivalent, and one (1) year as Fire Captain or equivalent, preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must pass background check.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must have and maintain certification by the State of Ohio as a Paramedic; certification by the State of Ohio as a State of Ohio EMT; certification by the State of Ohio as a Fire Firefighter II; valid Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy. Other certifications or licensure may be required as determined by the Mayor.
As set established by Ordinance the salary range for the position is $70,308.16 to $95,000.00 a year. Application packages must be submitted to the address below no later than January 19, 2018 to be considered.
