FULL-TIME FIRE MARSHAL Recruitment Open Until Filled. First Interviews Scheduled after February 2, 2018.

THE POSITION:
Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, is seeking a motivated and dynamic professional for the Fire Department. Candidates will assign and direct the work of staff assigned to the Division of Fire Safety. Candidates will act as Code Enforcement Official, will serve as the lead cause and origin investigator, and manages the fire investigation program. This position will coordinate public safety activities between City, Township, County, State and Federal agencies. Responsible for the plan review process relating to building and fire codes. Assist the training division with the development and delivery of training programs dealing with fire code, fire inspection and fire investigation techniques. Manages the fire safety inspection program that includes hazard identification, community risk reduction and code enforcement. Additionally, this position must take initiative to quickly and effectively resolve routine and non-routine issues by providing accurate responses to public and employee inquiries. Duties performed under the general direction of the Fire Chief and directs the Division of Fire Safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree or greater in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science or other related field by an accredited college or university, or the combination of education and experience as determined by the Fire Chief. Degree must be supplemented with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the fire service including knowledge and experience of fire building codes, fire inspection, fire investigation, and plans review. A minimum of five (5) years of fire investigator experience. A minimum of three (3) years of fire service supervisory experience and a minimum of three (3) years of inspector experience. Applicant must possess and attach copies of the following certifications: ● Ohio Firefighter II ● Ohio Fire Inspector ● Ohio Fire Inspector Instructor (within one year of hire). ● Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) through the National Association of Fire Investigators. ● Valid American Heart CPR, AED and First Aid card. ● NIMS ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, ICS-700 and ICS-800 certifications. ● Ohio Board of Standards Fire Protection Inspector (within one year of hire). ● Fire Marshal designation through the Commission of Professional Credentialing (within two years of hire). Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and remain insurable under the Township vehicle insurance plan.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary range is $62,682 to $90,397 and is exempt and non-union. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s experience, qualifications and related skills, knowledge and ability. Excellent benefits.
