Hamilton Township, Franklin County
Hamilton Township is accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief. Hamilton Township is located in southern Franklin County in the Columbus Metro area. The Hamilton Township Fire Department is a combination department with 27 career and 5 part-time firefighters operating two stations. The department is a full-service agency that provides emergency response services to a community of 8,260 residents in an area of 13 square miles. The department responds to approximately 5,500 runs a year.
The Fire Chief reports directly to the Board of Trustees. The position requires an experienced individual who can provide enthusiastic, hands-on leadership and the ability to develop strong working relationships. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and have a broad background in all aspects of service delivery including suppression, EMS, prevention and inspection.
Requirements include a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible full-time fire service experience with five or more years as a command officer (Captain) or above preferred), and the following State of Ohio Certifications: Firefighter II, EMT, Fire Safety Inspector, Fire Instructor, and a valid Ohio Driver’s License. Experience in a combination department and an Associate Degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, EMS administration, Public Safety Management or related field is desirable.
The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings the Township requires. The salary depends on qualifications, education, and experience. This is a competitive pay and benefit package.
