Notification of Death - William J. Shank

OFDA received word this morning about the death of William "Bill" J. Shank. Mr. Shank had worked for many years with his brother, Bob Shank, Sr., as a funeral director's assistant at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home in Perrysburg and Walbridge. For the past 10 years he has been an active member of the DMORT Response Team and in January 1997 was dispatched to the airline crash in Monroe, MI and was also heavily involved in the recovery efforts at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks. Mr. Shank died Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the age of 65.

Mr. Shank is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Karl) Falk and Susan (Rich) Ellett, Jr.; grandchildren, Andy Falk, Shelby Ellett and Brittany Ellett; brothers, Robert (Clara) Shank and Frederick (Joyce) Shank; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William J. Shank Trust Fund c/o Key Bank, 1088 Louisiana Avenue, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 or to the Erie Township Volunteer Fire Department, 5585 West Harbor Road, Lacarne, Ohio 43439.
