Raymond E. Long

OFDA received word this morning that Raymond E. Long, age 56, died August 13, 2006. Mr. Long started his funeral service career with the Hanson Neely Funeral Home in Ada, Ohio, in 1974, working there for nine years. He then sold for the Aurora Casket Company and Reynoldsville Casket Company before beginning full time employment September 2004 as a funeral director / embalmer for the Burr Funeral Home in Chardon. Ray worked part time with Burrs for 15 years prior to his full time employment.

He was the son of the late Raymond L. and Wilma Jean (nee Hall) Long; brother of Sue (Richard) Tribbett and Linda Long; uncle of Jeffery Tribbett, and great uncle of Breonna Tribbett; nephew of Katherine (Maurice) Hughes, Marie Hawley and Leah Staley.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 18, 2006 at 4:00 PM at the Hanson Neely Funeral Home, 311 East Lima Avenue, Ada, Ohio. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 16, 2006 from 1:00-3:00 AND 6:00-8:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, and Friday, August 18, 2006 from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon, and 2:00-4:00 PM at the Hanson-Neeley Funeral Home, Ada, Ohio. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
