Notification of Death - Edward C. Cotton, Sr.

February 11, 2007

OFDA received word this morning that Edward C. Cotton, Sr. of Kensington, Ohio died Sunday, February 11, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Cotton was a member of the American Funeral Director Association; The Ohio Funeral Directors Association which honored him for his 50 years of service as a funeral director; The Columbiana County Funeral Directors Association, The Columbiana, Mahoning & Trumbull Counties Funeral Directors Association and District #16 of the Ohio Funeral Directors honored him for his outstanding service to the community for 50 years service as a funeral director; The American Ambulance Association; The Ohio Ambulance and Medical Association. He was one of the first EMT's certified in this area of the state. He formed the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home & Ambulance Service in Kensington, Ohio and in 2002 acquired the Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ohio.

Dedicated to his community, Mr. Cotton was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Marine Corp., Sandy Valley Chapter 408 F & A.M., Past Patron of Pleasant Valley #216 Order of Eastern Stars, The Lepine Rush American Legion Post #684, and The Teheran Grotto.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Lou Burcher; daughters, Linda (Bernard) Brown and Dianna (Steven) Fisher; son, E. Curtis Cotton, Jr.; six grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Jonathan and Julia Brown, Eric and Sarah Fisher.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home, Kensington, with burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2007. Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home.
