Harry R. Nethers

A funeral service for Harry R. Nethers, 66, of Newark and formerly of Dayton, will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 7,2009 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark, with Anthony Payton presiding. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Nethers, a prominent funeral director and owner of Nethers-Hedricks Funeral Homes in Dayton, Ohio, passed away February 4, 2009 at Flint Ridge Nursing Center, Newark. He was born August 16, 1942, in Newark, to his parents Harry H. and Annabel (Butts) Nethers.

He was a 1961 graduate of Newark High School. He received his bachelor's degree in 1966 from Villa Madonna College, in Covington, Kentucky. He received his mortuary science degree in 1967 from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He became an Ohio licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1968. He began his career with Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home and ended his career in Dayton as owner/operator of Nethers-Hedricks Funeral Homes. Harry was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.

In addition to being a accomplish businessman in the Dayton area, Harry held a private pilots license. He loved living on his farm, in Englewood, with his animals and his dogs, Max, Blackie and Casey. He would take off at the first sign of snow to enjoy his passion for down hill skiing. In the summer he enjoyed traveling with his son in Europe.

Mr. Nethers is survived by his mother, Annabel Nethers, of Newark; sister Carol Yesenko, of Newark; son Bryan Nethers; nephews, Joey Hathaway and Mike Yesenko; great niece and nephew Gabby and Preston Hathaway and special cousins, Rosemarie and Paul Scanlon.

In addition to his father, Harry was preceded in death by his stepfather Dr. Phillip Puckett, DDS and many aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends and relatives 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
