Obituary for Marilyn Sue Tobias

Sister-in-law to OFDA Past Presidents David Tobias and Dan Tobias, CFSP

Marilyn Sue Tobias, 81 of Beavercreek, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard L. Tobias, in 2014. She was also preceded by a grandson, Nathan Davidson, and her parents, William and Dorothy Smith. She is survived by her children: daughter, Kimberly Tobias-Davidson and husband Joe Rauch of Dayton, and son Kevin and wife Jennifer Tobias of Waynesville. Three grandchildren also survive her: Nick and wife Amy Davidson of Beavercreek, and Audrey and Aiden Tobias, both of Waynesville, as do two great grandchildren: Nathan and Nora Davidson. Two brothers-in-law also survive her: David Tobias and Dan and wife Mary Beth Tobias, as well as two nieces and two nephews. Marilyn graduated as Valedictorian of Spring Valley High School and was also a graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She practiced as an RN at Miami Valley for 2 years and then moved on to raising her family full time and working part-time as a hairdresser at her family’s business, Tobias Funeral Home. She was a deeply devoted and loving wife and mother to her family. She created a welcoming environment for family and friends and rarely fed her family without at least one extra guest at the table. She had a hearty, sincere laugh and vivid smile which she shared readily. She loved spending summers with Richard at their cabin in Canada where they had many dear friends and joyful memories. Her family would like to thank her personal care aides Shirley, Cassandra and Diane who allowed her to live in the home she loved until just a few days before she passed; she considered them the dearest of friends. Friends may call at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432 on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 4-8 PM. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Beaver Cemetery following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of the giver’s choice in Marilyn’s memory. Condolences can be made online at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com
