Obituary for Ruth Ann Neer Griebling

Mother and Mother-in-law of Kimberly and Walt Lindsey, Owners of Lindsey Funeral Home

Ruth Ann Neer Griebling, 85, of Lexington, died early Saturday morning, June 16, 2018 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville following a 13-month battle with Angiosarcoma.  Ruth Ann was born April 22, 1933 in Weller Township, Richland County and was the daughter of the late Curtis L. and H. Marie (Wolford) Pittenger.  She was a 1951 graduate of Union High School and lived in Richland County her entire life. On September 6, 1952 she married James K. Neer and he died on Nov. 19, 1972.   She was a secretary/bookkeeper with Suburbanite Motors, Mid-Ohio Race Course, and for six months with WMAN, retiring in 1983.  On April 16, 1985 she married Lester C. Griebling and he died on Feb. 6, 2003.  Her faith was a priority throughout her lifetime and she was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bellville, and also volunteering with the Bellville Neighborhood Outreach Center (BNOC) for many years.  She enjoyed feeding her hummingbirds and following The Ohio State Buckeyes basketball teams as well as the Cleveland Cavaliers.

 

Ruth Ann is survived by her sons: Daniel A. Neer and Michael J. Neer, both of Lexington; her daughter: Kimberly (Walt) Lindsey of Loudonville; four grandchildren:  Stephanie (Nate) Huffman and Lauren (Kevin) Davis, all of Sunbury, Dustin (Amy) Neer of Bellville, and Danielle Neer of Howard; and great-grandchildren: Grace, Lilly, Grant, and Tyler Huffman, and Camden and Isla Davis; four step-sons:  Gary, Doug (Susan), Alan, and Tracy Griebling; four step-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Mawhorr of Mansfield, a brother and sister-in-law: Eldon and Norma Pittenger of Willard, and a sister-in-law: Jean Pittenger of Mansfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jim Neer; her second husband, Les Griebling; two brothers: Carlos “Curt” and Russell Pittenger; and one sister, Mary Naomi Whited.

 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, June 19 at 10:30 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bellville with Rev. Doug Pretorius officiating.   Graveside services will begin at 1:30 PM in Franklin Cemetery, Franklin Township, Mansfield.  Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 PM in the LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE and also one hour prior to the funeral service (9:30-10:30) in the church.  Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 48 Church St., Bellville, OH 44813.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.byerly-lindsey.com.
