Obituary for Charla R. Jones

Mother of Christina R. Jones, Funeral Director at Wappner Funeral Directors

Charla René (Pennington) Jones, 49, of Galion, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home. Born January 18, 1971 in Pennington Gap, Virginia, she was the daughter of Eddie Wayne Pennington, Sr. and Loretta (Green) Pennington.

A homemaker, Charla was very family oriented and an amazing mother and gram although a bit stubborn. She loved the outdoors and taking long walks with her mom. She enjoyed cooking especially with her little helper, Kylah. She was a parent volunteer for the schools while her daughter, Christina, was attending. Charla was an amazing track and distance runner and collected elephants and Pillsbury dough boys. She was an animal lover and loved to bowl and read in her spare time. She volunteered at the Galion Jaycees Haunted House and was a big Nicholas Cage fan.

She is survived by her husband, Derrick H. Jones whom she married March 12, 1990; her daughter, Christina Jones; her granddaughter, Kylah Kendall; her mother, Loretta Pennington; her brother, Eddie (Wanda) Pennington; and her nieces, Katlin (Michael) Anderson and Brittany Hoskins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Wayne Pennington, Sr.; her in laws, Beacher and Treva Jones; and her grandparents, Charlie and Lucy Green and Edgar and Mary Pennington.

There will be no services at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund or the Crawford County Humane Society.
