Top | | According to the CDC, 12.2% of the U.S. population experiences serious difficulty walking or climbing stairs. That means roughly 1 in 8 of your hotel’s guests may need additional mobility support during their stay.
While many properties have addressed accessibility with elevators, mobility within the hotel itself remains a challenge. Traditional solutions like wheelchairs often fall short. They require physical stamina to self-propel or assistance from another person—limiting independence and convenience for guests.
To bridge this gap, Mobility City, has launched an innovative scooter rental program designed specifically for hotels and conference centers. This program provides guests with on-demand access to mobility scooters directly on-site.
Using a simple smartphone app, guests can rent a scooter for as little as four hours—giving them the freedom to move comfortably and independently throughout their stay. Best of all, this amenity comes at no cost to the hotel and even includes a revenue-sharing opportunity. The program is also designed to minimize staff involvement, with Mobility City managing reservations and logistics. Participating hotels simply provide access at check-in using a confirmation code. The Hyatt Regency Columbus has already joined the program, leading the way in enhancing accessibility for all guests. |

In this article, Stephanie Smith explores the concept of the “AI funnel,” breaking down the critical difference between discoverability and transaction readiness. From how AI determines which hotels to recommend to the growing importance of consistent digital presence and data accuracy, she highlights why being discoverable is the first, and most essential, step before investing in booking technology. |

| | It’s a scenario no hotel owner or operator wants to face: a fire, water main break, or other property disaster that disrupts guest stays, staff workflows, and revenue.
And the challenge isn’t just the damage. It is also the time and frustration of navigating a complex insurance claim.
That’s because the insurance carrier’s priority is protecting its own bottom line, not the hotel’s financial recovery.
This is what Jodi, a hotel manager in Toledo, experienced after a fire brought business at her hotel to a halt. |

In Ohio, this shift presents a significant opportunity for hotels to gain a competitive edge by adopting environmentally responsible measures, improving guest loyalty, and supporting the state’s booming tourism economy.
